Pet Love Reports Great Results from Fundraiser

Benefiting Animals Displaced by Hurricane Katrina

Dallas, TX — Pet Love, a mobile pet grooming service serving the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, is reporting great results from its Sunday fundraiser, Don’t Forget the Animals, a one-day pet groom-a-thon to benefit pets injured or displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

The Sunday, Sept. 11, donation program was a great success. Total donations for the groom-a-thon are approaching $5,500 in cash and an estimated $6,000 worth of pet equipment, supplies and food. The event featured 15 of Pet Love’s Pet Stylists providing grooming services for a minimum donation of $25.

“It was a great day at Pet Love,” owner Don Stone said. “We set the minimum donation at $25 just to help give people a guideline, but people were donating $75 and $100 per pet. We had a steady line of cars and pick-ups dropping off everything that you can think of: food, collars, crates, and several people pulled up and just handed us a $100 bill.”

The generosity of Texans was made evident by this event, but one of the largest donations came from The Meow Mix Company of Secaucus, N. J.

“Meow Mix is delivering $3500 of cat food for use in our area shelters”, said Barbara Stone, co-owner of Pet Love. The Meow Mix Company, maker of Meow Mix cat food and Alley Cat dry cat food is delivering their contribution next Thursday.

“In times of crisis, everyone has a responsibility to join together and help,” said Richard Thompson, CEO and Top Cat of The Meow Mix Company. “That’s where running a business becomes secondary, and the first priority is assisting the people and animals whose lives were put in turmoil by this devastating hurricane.”

Pet Love will continue to accept donations of cash, as well as pet related supplies and equipment such as crates, leashes, bowls, bedding, food, etc. at its corporate complex, 2148 Royal Lane, between Luna Road and I-35E, in northwest Dallas. Credit card donations can be called in at 1-800-PET-LOV-1.

One hundred percent of the net proceeds from the program will be shared by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Texas in Dallas (SPCA) and the Humane Society of North Texas in Fort Worth (HSNT) to support their efforts to care for animals who are victims of the hurricane.
